Fraudulent Bank Activities

Postby Merch on Wed Oct 21, 2009 7:53 pm

So im going through my bank statement, and i notice ive been charged a few times by

O2(UK)Prepay for 15 quid

then i noticed it again, and again, and again......etc

anyhow the top and bottom of it is, i phoned o2, and after a nice rant they said it was nothing to do with my contract, but i had been topping up my pay s you go phone.

odd, as i dont have one, nor have i had for about 3 years or more.

so after a nice phonecall to an indian chap by the name of tom at barclays (after a 20 minuite wait on hold) he tells me tht theres a huge scam going about on this. he canceled the couple of hundred due to come out tomorrow, but the rest needs to be settlesd as per fraud protocol etc.

anyhow they have no idea how so many people are getting hit with it, but once you do it goes on and on til the accounts empty.

im always careful with my details, my cards never outmy wallet (cue steves a tite *swear warning* jokelol) and ive never played nigerian lottery!

The only thing he suggested was it could be the cash machines in pubs/shops etc, which charge you, ive only used oneof those from the local pub, so if it turns out to be him.....well, your honour...

anyhow just tought id give you a heads up, so you can check your statements etc, and if any of you do get stung, you can nail it before the *swear warning* empty your account!

It's happened to me twice in three months on two seperate cards and the only place that I've used both is the Co-Op :?

Luckly for me RBS/Natwest seems much more on top of it than Barclays as on both occasions as I was informed and my card was cancelled before the little *******s had got past trying to pre auth my card (to buy phone credit) to see if it worked.
